• The Arts Theatre Club brings the understated glamour of the Prohibition era to the streets of London's Soho.

Once an illegal drinking den and playground of the notorious Krays, the Arts is steeped in history and tradition firmly rooted in London's theatre and gangland culture.

Private tables and plush sofas scattered around a candlelit lounge, tiled brickwork, period-perfect lighting, and a vintage piano that doubles up as a DJ booth adds to the Arts' speak-easy chic to create a laid back yet intimate feel. Guests sip on our superb selection of artisanal cocktails served in charmingly vintage china or Prohibition Teapots as they dance the night away to retro classics until the early hours of the morning.

The Arts' inimitable style draws a stylish, discerning, crowd seeking the privacy of a discrete drinking den combined with the low-key grandeur of a 1920's Speakeasy. We have been delighted to welcome the Glee Cast, Vic Reeves, Steve Jones and legendary director David Fincher as recent guests.

  • The Arts Theatre Club is a private members club that epitomises the speakeasy style of the
    Prohibition era.

The Arts boasts a rich tapestry of tradition with a heritage dating back to the 1920's when it was
founded by a troupe of actors. The club later
became popular with figures from London's
underworld, where backroom deals could be
conducted in a clandestine, candle-lit room.

Later in the sixties and seventies, the Arts welcomed sirens from the stage and silver screen, models and artistes, injecting a shot of glamour and firmly cementing the Arts' pivotal role in London's history.

The Arts' distinctive style has been developed by
the award winning designer, Lee Broom.

  • “I've never not had an entirely ACE time at Arts Theatre Club. Basically it comes down to the following: cool and central-ly venue, cocktails served in teapots, nice comfy seats, brilliant music and a lovely crowd. It's totally my favourite.”
“Calling in prize-winning lighting designer Lee Broom to remodel their main bar was inspired. The cosy club- originally set up for actors but which let others in is a change from the usual.”
“For the Arts Theatre Club it’s all about the cocktails, which you can order in a teapot with four teacups...”

“A must for anyone who fancies themselves as aconnoisseur of Soho’s finest late-night speakeasies....”
“The bar looks great... but BarChick isn’t here for the view. The cocktail list has got everything from exciting new mixes (Cardamom and Pineapple Daiquiri – check), twists on classics, prohibition-style teapots to share...”
“As a basement bar The Arts Theatre Club has reclaimed some of the best elements of traditional Soho and updated them... It’s a quirky place- they serve great cocktails in teapots, prohibition- style.”
“A prohibition speakeasy members club that feels like home from home.”
